Thick Fashion Gold & Silver, Explained

Everything you need to cut, weed, press, and care for your thick metallic vinyl, from blade setup to heat settings.

Keep colors simple

Single-color designs give the cleanest, most consistent finish. Skip intricate multi-color artwork.

Go bold, not thin

Thick, chunky letterforms hold the dimensional effect best. Fine scripts and small text can be difficult to cut and weed.

Give it room to breathe

Aim for at least 2pt line thickness and 4pt of negative space between elements (1pt = 1/72 inch).

How to Apply

Six steps to a perfect Thick Fashion print.

Weeding

Carefully remove any excess material from around your design.

Place the design on your garment with the clear carrier facing up. Use heat-tape for hats or tricky placements.

Apply medium, even pressure at 155°C for 20-25 seconds.

Cooling Down

Give the transfer just a brief moment to cool down so it is warm to the touch, not piping hot.

Peel

5. Peel

Remove the clear carrier film smoothly while it is still warm. WARM PEEL.

Features
Thick metallic finish: A 600µ (± 50µm) polyurethane film that sits proud of the fabric, with a rich gold or silver face that catches the light.
Thick but soft: Substantial on the garment yet flexible enough to move with the fabric, so it looks premium without feeling stiff.
Cuts and weeds cleanly: Works with both plotter and laser cutting, and weeds smoothly on an adhesive PET carrier — turning simple logos and text into sophisticated artwork.
Wide fabric compatibility: Presses onto polyester, polyester blends, and cotton.
Pressing Instructions
Cut and weed: Set your blade depth and force to suit a 600µ film, then weed away the excess vinyl from around your design.
Position carrier side up: Place the design on your garment with the clear PET carrier facing you. Heat-resistant tape isn't usually needed on a flat press, but it helps a lot for hats or ironing.
Press: Medium pressure at 155°C for 20-25 seconds.
Peel: WARM PEEL. Remove the PET carrier film immediately after pressing, while it's still warm.
Adjust your settings to suit the fabric, and always run a test cut and test press before a production run.
Care Instructions
Wait at least 24 hours after pressing before the first wash so the adhesive fully cures.
Turn the garment inside out before washing.
Home wash at up to 60°C.
Tumble dry on low.
Skip the bleach, and iron inside out only.
These steps help your print last as long as possible.
Art Upload Tips
Cut vinyl needs clean cut paths, so vector files work best — build your design in software like Illustrator or CorelDRAW and send it as AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF. Raster art has to be traced first, which can soften your edges.
One colour per design: the vinyl is a solid gold or silver, so tones and gradients won't carry. Convert artwork to a single flat silhouette.
Keep it bold: a 600µ film is thick, so fine scripts, hairlines, and tiny counters get difficult to weed. Thicker strokes and open negative space cut and weed far more cleanly.
Tip: outline your text before sending so fonts don't shift on our end.
